The 2026 Belt and Road Journalists Forum was held October 19 in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, drawing nearly 100 journalists and media leaders from more than 50 countries and regions to discuss media cooperation and communication innovation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
A focus on media convergence and connectivity
This year's forum carried the theme “Convergence and Connectivity, Innovation and Progress, Media Transformation amid Global Changes.” Mo Gaoyi, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the State Council Information Office, told the forum that journalists serve as chroniclers, participants and promoters of Belt and Road cooperation, and should use objective reporting to build understanding between countries while pushing back against misinformation through cultural exchange.
Media figures from several countries join the discussion
John Wallace, executive director of the Asia Pacific Journalism Centre, He Ping, president of the All China Journalists Association and a presidium member of the Belt and Road Journalists Network, and Puy Kea, president of the Club of Cambodian Journalists and rotating president of the network's presidium, were among the international media figures who spoke at the forum. Zuzana Lechanova, a reporter with Slovak Television, also shared her own reporting experiences and observations.
A stop in Changzhou to see industrial innovation
As part of the forum, visiting journalists also traveled to Changzhou, Jiangsu province, for field reporting. A journalist from Mexico was reported to have tried out an electric scooter at an exhibition hall run by Ninebot, getting a firsthand look at the region's electric two wheeler industry.
