Under Maestro Arkady Beryn, the Filharmonie Brno accompanies three international soloists on 2 November 2026 in a programme that speaks every language, from Mozart and Puccini to Rossini and Verdi.

Melodies travel faster than words. “Largo al factotum”, the Toreador Song, “Che gelida manina”, the Brindisi from La traviata: these are tunes that audiences across the world recognise within a bar or two. On 2 November 2026 they come together in one programme at the Philharmonie Berlin, when the Filharmonie Brno, conductor Arkady Beryn and soloists Rene Barbera, Florian Sempey and Alisa Medvedeva present the Operngala-Nacht in the Grosser Saal.

The three soloists bring extensive international experience to the Berlin stage. Rene Barbera, born in Texas, was the first singer to win all three top prizes at Placido Domingo's Operalia competition and has since sung at the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Opera de Paris and the Vienna State Opera; recent seasons have brought role debuts in Rome and Naples and an appearance at the New National Theatre Tokyo as Arnold in Rossini's Guillaume Tell.

Florian Sempey, the French baritone whose Figaro has been heard at the Opera de Paris, Covent Garden, the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and the New National Theatre Tokyo, appears this season in Vienna, Berlin, Madrid, Naples and Zurich.Soprano Alisa Medvedeva, a graduate of the Saint Petersburg Conservatoire, has performed internationally at venues including Dubai Opera and the Wiener Stadthalle, with further appearances in Monaco, Porto Cervo, St. Moritz and Bucharest.

Maestro Prof. Arkady Beryn, who conducts, has more than forty years of professional experience and served as Chief Conductor of the Internationale Symphoniker Deutschland from 2003 to 2011. He has appeared in the Philharmonie Berlin, the Vienna Musikverein, the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and has conducted for soloists including Aida Garifullina, Roberto Alagna, Maxim Vengerov and Mischa Maisky. A professor of orchestral, opera and symphonic conducting, he gives international masterclasses for young conductors, and his students now hold leading positions with orchestras around the world. The Filharmonie Brno, founded in 1956, is one of the Czech Republic's leading orchestras.

Between the arias, the orchestra carries the evening across Europe: the Polonaise from Eugene Onegin, the overtures to Le nozze di Figaro, La forza del destino and La gazza ladra, the intermezzi from Manon Lescaut and Cavalleria rusticana, the finale of Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony and a Dvorak Slavonic Dance, before the Brazilian classic “Tico Tico no fuba” and the ensemble Brindisi “Libiamo ne' lieti calici” send the audience home.

The Philharmonie Berlin is itself a global landmark. Hans Scharoun's hall, opened in 1963, pioneered the vineyard layout in which audience terraces surround the stage, a model later adopted by concert halls from Tokyo to Los Angeles and Hamburg. Its 2,440 seats make it one of the largest halls in the city, yet no listener sits far from the musicians.

Tickets from €26.50 are available through Eventim; the concert begins at 20:00.
